The Travelling Howards
Every generation of the Howard family has embarked on his or her travels to somewhere around the globe, in the course of which they have met with highwaymen, pirates, illness, missed trains and boats, and even been thrown into prison.
This talk will capture all the amusing highs and lows of their dramatic journeys, looking at where they went, what they saw, what they brought home, and even what they left behind.
Hear about the 5th Earl’s dog Rover crossing the Alps, or Lady Irwin’s disastrous voyage from Hull to Rotterdam; and how the 9th Earl really did lose a child in Italy!
After travelling so far wine and canapés will refresh you whilst you view some original material from the archives.
