Civil Ceremonies
What could be more romantic than to exchange vows under the fabulous painted dome of Castle Howard’s Great Hall while musicians play from the gallery above, and the figures from myth and legend look down!
This majestic room is now available for civil marriages and partnerships between April and October. Up to 120 guests can be accommodated, with standing room for more.
We advise that you confirm availability of your preferred date with the Malton Registrar before making a reservation at Castle Howard. To do this, call 0845 034 9483 or e-mail registrars.malton@northyorks.gov.uk. As we do not close Castle Howard to daytime visitors, we offer only a 5pm ceremony, 7 days a week. The fee for use of the Great Hall for a marriage ceremony is £1500 +VAT. Please note that this may only be booked in conjunction with banqueting at Castle Howard, for which separate fees apply.
For smaller wedding ceremonies of up to 40 guests, the beautiful pavilion at Castle Howard known as the Temple of the Four Winds is also available. Approached along a statue-lined lakeside terrace, this charming and highly exclusive venue commands impressive views at all four points of the compass. However, without electricity, and with limited access, this is suitable for summer weddings only. Price on application.
Although Castle Howard has its own chapel, this is for private family use only and it is not possible to conduct marriages there.
For more information about marriage ceremonies, and to discuss your requirements, please contact Jane Nordli, our Wedding Coordinator on 07971 094338, or send brief details using our online enquiry form and Jane will contact you as soon as possible.
